VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Arroyo Hondo Preserve Docents*

Learn from experts about the natural and cultural history of Arroyo Hondo Preserve and share what you learn with children and visitors to the preserve. Docents lead school group hikes and nature activities every Monday and Wednesday mornings during the school year. Docents also lead public hikes two Saturdays a month as a part of our open-access weekends.

*AHP Docent Training: Eight mandatory trainings hosted at the preserve every Wednesday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. starting on February 7, 2024 and ending on March 27, 2024.

Land Trust Treks**

Help lead or support guided hikes and outdoor experiences for the community to explore Santa Barbara County’s spectacular open spaces and trails. Join us as an ambassador to the outdoors!

**Land Trust Treks Training: Two mandatory training sessions that will be hosted virtually and in-person; evening and weekend dates TBD. Option to sit in on scheduled AHP Docent natural history lessons.

Trail Maintenance & Habitat Restoration

Volunteer workdays regularly take place at Arroyo Hondo Preserve on the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., weather permitting, and are occasionally hosted at other Land Trust properties. Join the list and get your hands dirty!
